Family Matters is a non-profit organization based out of Lawrencetown, going out into many rural communities in Annapolis County to offer support and programs for families. We started in 1994 and have been serving families in Annapolis County since that time. We have 11 staff in the various programs we offer.
We are a Family Home Child Care Agency. People who have the desire to work from home and love children can be approved through our consultant and supported through the process of opening a Family Home Child Care program. Each month the consultant will visit to ensure regulations are being followed and offer supports to the Care Provider and the families. We welcome new Care Providers. For more information email fhdcfamilymatters@gmail.com
We are also the host of the Parenting Journey Program. We know that raising a family can be difficult and as the African Proverb reminds us that “it takes a village to raise a child” our Parenting Journey home visitor can meet families in their home or in a spot the family chooses to work through the challenges of parenting, navigating systems that can be daunting and finding solutions to life’s struggles. We have many other types of programs in various locations in Annapolis County (Annapolis Royal, Bridgetown, Paradise, Lawrencetown, Middleton, and Wilmot) and during our summer months we like to take families on a variety of field trips. These programs include; Baby Group, Parent Time and Curious Kids, Playgroups, Story times at local libraries, Roots of Empathy in schools in Annapolis County, Book Club, Craft Club, and more!
